This is a fun and exciting training for all Cub Scout leaders. If your pack goes camping, at least one leader at the event must be BALOO-trained. BALOO is the first step in the evolving BSA camping training program. A very capable staff will prepare you for fun and successful family pack overnight camp outs. By completing this course you will: understand the focus of the Cub Scout level of the BSA camping program; acquire the skills and confidence necessary to plan and carry out a successful, first-time Cub Scouts-level camping activity; increase your knowledge of the resources available from the BSA and other sources to carry out this activity; and understand the requirements for successful completion of this activity, using national standards as guidelines. This training covers basic camping skills, equipment, fires and outdoor cooking, knife safety, knots, program planning, health and safety considerations, and other outdoor skills that are central to the Cub Scout outdoor program.
BALOO training will now be a 1 1/2 day course that will include a night of camping. It follows the official national BALOO syllabus that the BSA updated in late 2017.
