Please join us for a Venturing Specific and Youth Protection Training.

The youth protection training is a live version of the official BSA Youth Protection Training (YPT). This course is an approved substitute for the online version that the Boy Scouts of America released in February 2018.

WHAT IT COVERS: This course will help you understand how to create and maintain a safe environment for youth; how to recognize, respond to, and report the different kinds of abuse that youth are likely to experience; and how to use Scouting’s “Barriers to Abuse” to protect youth. This training covers exactly the same material as the online version, including slides and videos, while also providing an opportunity for questions and discussion. Each participant must pass a test at the end to earn credit for the course. Altogether, the training and the test will take about two hours.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This training is for all Venturing adult leaders (age 18+) It is the national policy of the BSA that all registered leaders are required to take this training (either the online version or the live version).

In the Venturing Position-Specific training you will learn the fundamentals of running a successful Venturing Crew, including program planning, the patrol method, advancement, and much more. This course covers the same material as the online position-specific training, but the live version offers more interactivity, hands-on learning, and the chance to meet and share ideas with fellow leaders.
