BALOO is a fun and exciting training experience for all Cub Scout leaders. When your pack goes camping, at least one leader at the event must be BALOO-trained. By completing this course you will: understand the focus of the Cub Scout level of the BSA camping program; acquire the skills and confidence necessary to plan and carry out a successful, first-time Cub Scout-level camping activity; learn about resources available to help; and understand the requirements for safe BSA outdoor activities, based on national standards. This overnight training will allow you to learn and practice basic camping skills, equipment, fires and outdoor cooking, knife safety, knots, program planning, health and safety considerations, and other outdoor skills that are central to the Cub Scout outdoor program.
Please note that this event runs from Friday evening through Saturday evening. BALOO is typically a Saturday/Sunday course, but we’re offering this special opportunity for those who’d like their Sunday free for family/religious obligations. If you cannot attend the full course (starting Friday at 7pm), please consider attending our April 27-28 course instead.
Registration deadline: May 5, 2019.
Cost: Free to adult leaders registered with units in Mayflower Council (the annual activity fee on Scout registrations in our council helps to cover the cost of providing leader training). $30 for out-of-council members.
