James N. Ball

As founder and president of EverRise, Jim leads his team with proficiency, confidence, and
diligence. Jim grew up in Westborough, Massachusetts, watching his father run his own financial
advising business out of their family’s basement. Inspired by his father’s success, Jim went on to
obtain a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Massachusetts, setting out to plant
his own roots and begin a career. In 1984, he established his own firm in Westborough,
specializing in investment advice, insurance, business, tax, and estate planning. Today, he prides
himself in having created a thriving business, working with hundreds of families in more than 30
states. The firm features an innovative team approach offering sound and informed wealth
management while striving to always provide the utmost in customer service.

Jim is a director on the board of Avidia Bank, located in Hudson, Massachusetts; committee
chairman of the Risk Committee; member of Executive Governance Committee; member of the
Westborough Community Preservation Committee. In his (little) spare time, he enjoys traveling
the world with his family, as well as reading, exercising, and listening to music.

The Mayflower Council is honored to recognize Jim with the 2024 Good Scout Award for his integrity and genuine concern for others in the Westborough community and beyond.

About The Good Scout Award

The Good Scout Award is bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated integrity and genuine concern for others in both their professional and personal lives.

The recipients need not have been Scouts but must carry the “Spirit of Scouting” into their adult lives. They are people who have been unselfish in their service to others on an individual and community basis. They seek no return for their service other than the satisfaction of aiding their fellow citizens, their community, and their nation.

The Good Scouts are people who truly capture the respect and imagination of our youth.

2026 National Jamboree

The Mayflower Council will send numerous contingent troops to the 2026 National Jamboree at the Summit.

Scouting’s flagship national event is one-of-a-kind. It’s a gathering of tens of thousands of Scouts and Scouters showcasing everything that is great about Scouting. Over the course of 10 summer days scouts join together for this iconic outing. Because it normally takes place every 3 to 4 years, most Scouts will only have one opportunity to visit the Jamboree as a youth. Many Jamboree Alumni said their experience was one of the most memorable adventures during their years in Scouting.

WHEN IS THE NATIONAL JAMBOREE:
The 2026 National Jamboree will take place July 22 – 31, 2026. The contingent will leave a few days before and return after the last night of the jamboree.

WHAT IS THE NATIONAL JAMBOREE:
It’s the most awesome event a Scout or Venturer could attend. It’s everything you can do in Scouting–and more–in one spot just for you . . . and about 25,000 of your friends from around the country and around the world! It’s 10 days of adventure and excitement that you don’t want to miss!!

WHAT DO YOU DO AT THE JAMBOREE?:
Climbing, zip lines, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, BMX biking, world-class skate park, shooting ranges, kayaking, arena shows, aquatic challenges, state of the art tech stuff, rappelling, merit badge opportunities, STEM Quest and even some patch trading along the way.

WHERE IS THE JAMBOREE?:
The Summit Bechtel Reserve is home to the National Scout Jamboree. Situated in the wilds of West Virginia, The Summit is a training, Scouting, and adventure center for the millions of youth and adults involved in the Boy Scouts of America and anyone who loves the outdoors. The CFC contingent will travel to the Summit in chartered motor coaches accompanied by trained and experienced adult scout leaders. The Summit is a place that takes Scouts and Venturers to the limits of what they think they can do, and then pushes them further.

ARE THERE QUALIFICATIONS?:
Jamboree Qualifications: Scouts BSA, Ventures, Sea Scouts and Explorers MUST have a current BSA membership, be at least a First Class Scout.(or equivalent depending on program) MUST be at least 12 years of age by the first day of the Jamboree but have not reached their 18th birthday by the last day of the Jamboree. Be approved by their home unit leader and local council. MUST have appropriate parent/guardian to complete the online parental consent. (An email will be sent to the parent/guardian during the application process.) Participate in mandatory pre-Jamboree training experiences with local council and Jamboree unit leadership. Submitted BSA Annual Health & Medical Record using the on-line Jamboree submission process.

Mayflower Council Fee Update

We’re committed to providing the best Scouting experience possible for all youth in the Mayflower Council. After careful consideration, the Mayflower Council Executive Board has approved an increase in the annual program fee, effective August 1, 2024. This increase was originally announced on March 27, 2024.

What’s Changing:

The program fee will increase from $48 to $68 per youth member in Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA, Venturing, and Exploring.
This fee does not apply to adult members.

National Fees:

Please note that National Scouting America has a separate annual registration fee. These funds directly support national programs such as Scoutbook, program resources, and national events.
